AI Usage Policy

This AI Usage Policy ("Policy") governs your use of all artificial intelligence features within MySmartStudyPartner ("the Service"). This Policy applies to all AI-powered functionality including, but not limited to:

• AI Assistant chat conversations
• AI-generated note summaries
• AI-powered flashcard generation
• AI-generated quiz questions
• AI-generated study plan recommendations

All users of MySmartStudyPartner must read, understand, and agree to this Policy before using AI-powered features. By enabling or using any AI feature within the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by the terms set forth in this Policy.

MySmartStudyPartner utilizes Anthropic's Claude AI models to power its intelligent study features. When you interact with AI features, your submitted study content is processed by these models to generate educational responses, summaries, flashcards, quiz questions, and study plans.

Safety Guardrails

All AI interactions operate within safety guardrails and content filters designed to ensure responses are appropriate, educational, and safe. These guardrails are continuously maintained and updated to reflect best practices in AI safety.

When you use AI-powered features, certain content is transmitted to Anthropic's API servers for processing. This data is handled in accordance with Anthropic's privacy policy and data processing agreements.

Data Sent to AI Services

• Note content— when generating AI summaries or extracting key concepts from your notes.
• Chat messages— when interacting with the AI Assistant for study help.
• Flashcard topics— when using AI to generate flashcard sets on a given subject.
• Quiz topics— when using AI to generate quiz questions on a given subject.

Data NOT Sent to AI Services

• Personal identity information (name, email, date of birth)
• Passwords or authentication credentials
• Payment or financial information
• Browser metadata or device information

MySmartStudyPartner does not use your data to train AI models. Your content is processed solely for the purpose of generating responses within the Service.

All AI-generated content within MySmartStudyPartner is provided for educational assistance purposes only. Users must understand and acknowledge the following limitations:

• AI responses may contain errors, inaccuracies, or information that is outdated or incomplete.
• Users must independently verify all AI-generated content before relying on it for academic, professional, or any other purposes.
• AI is not a substitute for professional instruction, qualified tutoring, or academic advising from certified educators.

MySmartStudyPartner and its AI technology providers disclaim all warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content.

The following uses of AI features within MySmartStudyPartner are strictly prohibited:

• Academic dishonesty— Using AI to complete graded assignments, examinations, or assessments that are intended to be completed independently.
• Plagiarism— Submitting AI-generated content as your own original work without proper disclosure or citation, in violation of your institution's academic integrity policies.
• Harmful content generation— Attempting to use AI features to generate content that is harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise inappropriate.
• Safety filter circumvention— Attempting to bypass, disable, or circumvent any content safety filters, moderation systems, or guardrails implemented within the Service.
• Harassment or targeting— Using AI features to generate content intended to harass, bully, intimidate, or target any individual or group.
• Intellectual property violations— Using AI to generate content that infringes upon copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights of third parties.

Violations of these prohibitions may result in suspension or termination of access to AI features and/or the Service.

MySmartStudyPartner implements comprehensive content safety and moderation measures to protect all users:

• All AI interactions are monitored for safety violations, including harmful content, inappropriate language, and policy violations.
• Content flagged as potentially harmful is logged and may be reviewed to ensure user safety and compliance with this Policy.
• Users who repeatedly violate content safety policies may have their access to AI features suspended or permanently revoked.
• Content related to crisis situations or self-harm automatically triggers safety resources and supportive information, including helpline contact details.
• Critical safety concerns may be escalated to designated contacts, including parents or guardians for minor users, in accordance with applicable laws and our Privacy Policy.

AI features within MySmartStudyPartner are subject to the following age-related requirements:

• AI features are available to users aged 13 and older, consistent with the Service's minimum age requirement.
• Users aged 13 to 17 should use AI features under the awareness and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
• AI responses are filtered to be age-appropriate and suitable for educational contexts involving minor users.
• Parents and guardians retain the right to review AI interaction history for minor users and may request deletion of such data at any time.

MySmartStudyPartner is designed and intended as a study aid, not a homework completion tool or answer service. Users are responsible for understanding and adhering to the following principles:

• You are solely responsible for understanding and complying with your educational institution's academic integrity policies regarding the use of AI tools.
• AI-generated flashcards, summaries, quiz questions, and study plans are intended as study tools to reinforce learning, not as final or authoritative answers.
• Always cite AI assistancewhen required by your institution's academic policies. Many institutions now have specific guidelines regarding disclosure of AI tool usage.
• MySmartStudyPartner is not responsible for any academic consequences resulting from misuse of AI features in violation of institutional policies.

AI interaction data is managed according to the following principles:

• AI chat messages and interaction history are stored in your account's local storage on your device.
• You can delete your chat historyat any time from the AI Assistant page using the "Clear chat" function.
• Deleting your account through the Settings page permanently removes all AI interaction data stored locally.
• Third-party AI providers (such as Anthropic) may retain processing logs in accordance with their own data retention policies. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for details.

We reserve the right to update this AI Usage Policy at any time to reflect changes in AI technology, applicable regulations, or our operational practices. When changes are made:

• The "Last updated" date and version number at the top of this Policy will be updated accordingly.

• Continued use of AI features after changes have been communicated constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
